Utah Fits All Scholarship for Multiple Children: Amounts, Priority, and Household Rules
For a Utah family with three or four school-aged children, the Utah Fits All Scholarship can mean $12,000 to $32,000 in annual education funding. But the amount per child varies by age and track, and multi-child households face unique processing rules that can split your family's awards.
Award Amounts by Track and Age
| Track | Age Range | Annual Award | Semi-Annual Payment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Home-based | Ages 5–11 (elementary) | $4,000 | $2,000 in July + $2,000 in December |
| Home-based | Ages 12–18 (secondary) | $6,000 | $3,000 in July + $3,000 in December |
| Private school | K–12 (all ages) | $8,000 | $4,000 in July + $4,000 in December |
Age is determined as of September 1 of the scholarship year. A child who turns 12 after September 1 stays in the elementary tier for that year.
How Multi-Child Households Get Processed
When you apply for multiple children simultaneously, the program processes your applications as a unified household unit. All children in the household share the same priority tier — determined by whichever qualifying criteria your household meets (renewal, sibling, income-based, or general).
The complication comes when funding is available for some but not all of your children. In that case, you receive a partial household award notification with two options:
Accept the partial award. You choose which children receive scholarships now. The remaining children go on the waitlist under your original priority tier.
Decline the partial award. All children stay on the waitlist as a single unit until enough funding becomes available to serve the entire household.
There's no wrong choice, but the decision depends on your family's financial situation. Accepting partial awards gets some children funded immediately. Declining keeps the family together in the queue but delays everyone.
What a Multi-Child Family Actually Receives
A household with two elementary children (ages 7 and 10) and two secondary children (ages 13 and 16), all on the home-based track, receives:
- 2 × $4,000 = $8,000 (elementary)
- 2 × $6,000 = $12,000 (secondary)
- Total: $20,000 per year
If the same family enrolls all four in private school: 4 × $8,000 = $32,000 per year.
Each child's award is independent — the spending caps (20% extracurricular, 20% PE, $1,500 hardware) apply per student, not per household.
