Coalition App Homeschool Transcript: How to Submit Your Records
How the Coalition Application Handles Homeschoolers
The Coalition for College has more than 150 member institutions, but Apply Coalition with Scoir currently accepts applications at 114 participating colleges (as of September 19, 2026), including Yale, the University of Pennsylvania, and Clemson. It treats homeschool applicants as a recognized category. You are not pretending to be a traditional high school. You are submitting as a home-educated student, and the platform has fields designed for that.
When you register, you identify the student's school type as "homeschool." This changes how several sections of the application work, particularly which school materials a college requests and who submits them.
Setting Up the School Profile
Some colleges request a school profile through Apply Coalition with Scoir. If one is requested, prepare your home education program information:
- School name: the name of your homeschool or home education program; match any state filing name where applicable
- Address: your home address or the address on your state filing
- Phone number: your contact number
- CEEB code: use the College Board homeschool code 970000 when a College Board form requests a school code; follow the college's instructions for other code fields
The school profile gives colleges context about your program. Keep the name consistent with every other document you submit — transcript, diploma, test registrations, and recommendation letters.
The Counselor Role
Apply Coalition with Scoir uses a school official or supporter to submit requested school materials. In a homeschool setting, the parent typically serves as the home-school official. When the student adds a non-Scoir official, Scoir emails a secure document-portal link; that official does not need a Scoir account.
If a college requests a school report, describe your program's curriculum and grading policies accurately. Provide program-size and course-weighting details when the form asks for them.
Some families ask an outside evaluator, co-op leader, or private school administrator to serve as the school official or supporter instead. This works if you have a relationship with someone who can speak to your student's academic work, but it is not required. A parent may serve as the home-school official.

Uploading the Transcript
When a college requests a transcript, the home-school official or supporter submits it as a PDF through Scoir's secure document portal.
Your transcript PDF should include:
- Year-by-year course listings with credit values and letter grades
- Course level designations (Standard, Honors, AP, Dual Enrollment)
- A cumulative GPA (both weighted and unweighted if you use weighting)
- A grading scale key
- A credit definition (1 credit = 120-150 hours of instruction)
- Graduation date or expected graduation date
- Your signature as the homeschool administrator
Keep one complete transcript PDF showing all high school years. Submit it with any separately requested school profile or report; each college sets its required and optional documents, so follow the college's checklist.
Differences from the Common App
The Common App School Report includes home-school questions about curriculum, teaching methods, and how you evaluate student progress. Apply Coalition with Scoir uses a school official or supporter to submit requested school materials through its secure portal. The forms and document requirements differ by platform and college.
Both platforms accept parent-issued transcripts. Neither requires accreditation. In the current Scoir workflow, a school official or supporter submits requested records through its secure portal. Common App school materials are submitted through its counselor or home-school official process; the student does not upload the official transcript directly. Each college sets its document requirements.
If your student is applying to schools on both platforms, prepare one clean transcript PDF for the school official or supporter to submit through each platform's process.
Recommendation Letters
The number and type of recommendations each college requires or accepts vary, so check its instructions. For homeschoolers, recommenders can include co-op instructors, dual enrollment professors, private tutors, or community mentors who supervised academic work. When a college requests an outside academic recommendation, choose someone other than the parent who can discuss the student's work.
Recommendation writers should reference specific academic work — a research paper, a lab project, a dual enrollment course performance — not general character praise. Admissions officers reading a homeschool application are looking for external validation of academic rigor.
The Homeschool Transcript & Diploma Kit includes a transcript template formatted as a single-page or two-page PDF ready for Coalition App upload, plus guidance on completing the school profile and counselor sections.
